Shapiro's Delicatessen

  • $$, $$$

Since 1905, four generations of Shapiros have been making quality meals for our family and friends in the United States, buying vegetables from our Italian neighbors; sugar and beans from Needham Hurst, now NKHurst Beans, when they first opened in 1938; and corned beef from Sam & Emil in Chicago, otherwise known as Vienna Beef. Relationships in business turned into friendships. The quality of what we cook is equal to the integrity of being true to our word. A gentleman’s handshake. The best of the best. Shapiro’s Delicatessen.

Very unique place. Food was excellent. It's almost cafeteria style but they make your sandwich right in front of you. All the deserts were homemade. Will most definitely go back if in the area again.

It was my first time and i didn't know what to order. But i will visit again and try something different. I suggest to get grilled sandwich items . i wasn't a fan of a cold sandwich with the brad falling a part.

Ample parking south of the building with plenty of signs to assist with navigating if it's your first time. The sandwiches are pricey but worth it, however, with two reubens being nearly $40 (including tip) I don't see ourselves eating here very often. Next time I'd like to check out their desserts and other things they have for sale.

Questions & Answers

Shapiro's is the best Deli anywhere. If they should ever close there really won't be any true Deli's in the area. I have been going there since I was a kid back in 1958. You can also get thick hard crust bread, but you must ask for it.

Actually, it is Beef bacon... But any bacon is delicious, just not in our restaurant. We do not serve any pork.

We do sell them. If you are looking for Christmas, we are open tonight (Christmas Eve) until at least 7.

Yup, they sure do..

Why? Go and enjoy it, indulge yourself!

Check their website, it's hard ti say.

Yes

In their large, well lit, parking lot which is immediately adjacent to their awesome restaurant.

I believe the Reuben is $14.50 , but it is stacked with corned beef , I would guess possibly 1/2 -3/4 # on the sandwich. sauerkraut , swiss cheese, sauce ... my daughter is a Reuben connoisseur, and she LOVES them .
